Alice Bailly, though a native of Switzerland, traveled to Paris on numerous occassions throughout her career. In 1912, when she painted “In the Chapel”, she was very much into Cubist abstraction. After reading Albert Gleizes and Jean Metzinger’s Cubist manifesto, her style evolved rapidly. This work’s crisply defined lines evoke the pointed archways of Gothic cathedrals, while the color pallette reminds one of cool stone and luminous stained glass. A gorgeous piece by a versatile artist, painstakingly reproduced by hand. Frame Name: Versailles Silver Salon Frame 24″ X 36″Frame Details: Ornate Wood Frame with Embellished Metallic Finish.
